Visit: Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, 28 Tomewin St, Currumbin, Gold Coast, Queensland 4223 Australia

With over 27 hectares of wide-open spaces featuring lush Eucalyptus trees & rainforest, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a great day out for the young, & young at heart. You will get to see many of Australia’s iconic species displayed in their natural habitat.

We are a not-for-profit organisation that invests all proceeds back in to caring for wildlife, assisting with running our wildlife hospital, & taking part in 15 conservation projects to ensure wildlife for future generations to enjoy.

Take in a show or two, get up close to some iconic Australian wildlife, cool off at Wild Island Adventure Splash Zone, ride the miniature train, and visit Lost Valley.

Download the app and play the Lost Valley game.

A must do is our wild lorikeet feeding. This occurs at 8am and 4pm and is a great way to start or finish your day with us.

Don't forget to meet Blinky Bill, and get a bird’s-eye-view of our vets in action at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.

There is so much more to explore!

I can think of few happier ways to start the day than with the utterly wonderful Koala Breakfast at Curumbin Sanctuary. It's the best value add on in the park and worth EVERY CENT. The entire experience is wonderful, from start to finish. Let's start with food: between our group of seven we tried the bacon & eggs, brekkie burger and avo on toast. Highlight for me was the avo (with a brilliant addition of hummus and pesto it was perfect and delicious). Servings were generous and all the food was fresh and tasty. The koala experience itself cannot be faulted: we had three furry friends visit during the sit down meal for pats and photos. We also got to visit their enclosure and offer up gum leaves. Luckily, one lovely lady took up the offer (to the delight of all). All adults were given the opportunity to hold onto a cuddly koala and take a snap shot. The lovely photographer made a great effort to ensure wonderful photos of a truly brilliant experience. Shout out to the AMAZING keepers who made it all so delightful. Thank you so much for the experience! You absolutely made my family's day. The zoo itself has a lovely spread-out feel (though it's not vast). There's a miniature railway to get you around at your convenience or you can easily walk. Among the many experiences you can feed friendly kangaroos, watch a wonderful bird show or even absail, if you so choose. It can be explored and experienced thoroughly, and without rushing, in around 3-4 hours. Less if you're quick. If visiting I'd 100% recommend starting the day with that truly awesome koala brekkie. It's a truly wonderful experience for all kids and kids at heart.

My partner and I attended the sanctuary on a quiet winter weekday. We had breakfast at the entrance cafe which was nice but not amazing and we also had lunch, I'd recommend bringing your own lunch to save money. There is parking available directly across the street for about $10 a day. The train was a great way to see the park being hop on, hop off. Be sure to check out the bird show and eel feeding. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. We paid for the owl and eagle photos which was a great experience. The highlight was definitely the lorikeet feeding! be careful though they will poo on your clothes and in your hair! The two gift shops are filled with nick nacks and souvenirs for you to take home for memories. The only issue we had was how the showtimes were spread out. It made us stay at the park for a bit longer than we wanted.

You really must visit this place while on the Gold coast. The park is huge and very well set out. There are animal exhibits from all over the world, the gardens are very well kept. The train ride is excellent, with hop on hop off. Check out the pelican and eel feeding and catch the bird show, which is unique and different to the one at Australia zoo. Heaps of food and souvenirs and all run by volunteers. A great day out.

Went during school term with wife and young daughter - first week of winter (june) ... this meant the park felt very very empty and almost like we had it to ourselves. The only negative is they charge for parking - i think when a family of 3 is paying over almost $100 to get in (plus food and other stuff) ... also charging to park your car across the road is a bit steep. However - i didnt have huge expectations - I have been to the gold coast a dozen times on holidays and never had much desire to go... being a thrill ride junkie I always end up at the theme parks. Now with a young daughter who cant do the rides - we were looking for other options this time. We pre-paid to have our photo taken with a koala as thats not possible in NSW (also wifes bday present) and the guys who did this were fantastic with my young daughter and we had alot of fun (and a great photo too keep) ... definitely recommend doing these sort of experiences if you can afford it to add to the day. The park itself is actually much larger than I had imagined or is even portrayed on the park map - its not huge but it certainly isnt small. We arrived around 10am, did the photo and then took the small railway to the opposite end of the park and arrived just in time for the bird show - which was fantastic and my 2 year old was loving it (especially the pelican)... Walk around, lunch, a play in their "wild island" playground and the 2 year old was asleep in the pram which allowed the wife and I to explore some more and take time to watch some of the animals and read the info attached to enclosures... this is when we also went to the areas where you can touch and interact with kangaroos and then also found the "lost valley" aviary (which is huge) and it also had some lemurs who were inside and got really really close to us. Once the 2 year old woke up it was a few more animals, some ice cream and more time in the playground before we left. Overall, we were there for around 5 hours leaving just after 3pm ... and considering alot of shows and interactions are not running due to covid - i'm sure pre-covid it would have been easy to spend even more time there ( and more $$$) ... May not have the big wow factors of other places like Australia Zoo further north with crocs etc... but for something 30 minutes from the heart of the gold coast we really enjoyed the day and definately will be back on our next trip.

This was a wonderful day out. The animal and bird shows are very well done and informative. There is lots of wildlife and there is a huge kangaroo and koala population to get up close with. The Lost Valley area was excellent, beautifully designed and managed. We chose to do the Koala High-Tea in the afternoon and have our photos taken with a koala and this also included a personal tour through the koala habitat. Kylie was full of information to share with us and we sat and watched the koalas whilst having high-tea...which was delicious. We would highly recommend this. It's easy to walk the park, but there is a train which travels around the entire parkland and we had a lovely chat with our driver on his last run for the day. All the staff and volunteers we spoke to were more than happy to chat with us and answer any questions. There are volunteers available all around the park. There is a cafe out the front before you enter the park which serves lovely coffee and food on the open deck and there is 2 other food outlet options throughout the park and plenty of seating available. The lorikeet feeding in the morning and afternoon didn't disappoint. With a small donation you can get a plate of nectar for them and hold on tight as they're hungry!! We were able to see vets looking after sick animals from the viewing area outside the animal hospital and volunteers were standing by to answer any questions there also. Having not been to the park for 50 years, we were very happy to see it had grown and was still such a wonderful experience. We hope to have visitors from the USA in the near future and we will be sure to bring them here to see all our fabulous Aussie wildlife and include the Koala High-Tea or Breakfast! The 2 gift shops have plenty of lovely gift options too. Parking is available across the street for $10/day. Overall, this sanctuary is for adults and children of all ages and we look forward to returning. Thank you everyone for a fabulous day out.

Looking at the reviews we weren’t sure whether to come or not - but luckily the outlier negative reviews were just that - outliers. We found the park to be clean and the staff helpful. Our kids 5 and 7 had a good day out. We took our time, had lunch, went to the playground and saw a couple of the shows. Highlight was the Lost Valley - different animals to what we had seen before in this area. The park isn’t huge, but it’s set in a bushland setting - great for a day out with the kids.

This is how a Zoo should be, an amazing walk through the park with some of the best staff and volunteers, who care about the animals and visitors experience. We had general admission tickets but added on photos with the Koalas and the staff were amazing from start to finish, going above and beyond to ensure we knew what to see! Some of the park is dated and needs some tender love and care however that was forgotten considering the level of service and other shows on offer. Definitely will be back some day!

This is an absolute must see on the Gold Coast. It is an absolutely beautiful setting with so many fabulous shady plants and so lush and green. Great flat areas for walking, prams and wheelchairs. The park is well maintained, clean and easy to access all attractions. Dollar for dollar, it is better value than the big theme parks. Animals are easy to see and kids love the experience, especially being able to feed the kangaroos and wallabies. The Blinky Bill show was a highlight for my grandkids. There is also an Aboriginal cultural Show as well. The train is a great way to view the park and is included in the admission price. The food and beverage outlets offer quite a variety of choices and are also well priced for this type of attraction. The souvenir/gift shop is well stocked with some good buys on offer. Loved the fact that this park uses the services of volunteers, many are retired people and we found them very helpful. The staff were all welcoming and friendly. We had a great day out.

We were lucky with the weather and as borders were still closed to Internationals, it was relatively quiet. We found this experience to be outstanding. It has been very well set out although getting around was limited to an app or the sign posts….I still prefer a paper map! But in the end it didn't really matter much as the lovely volunteers were plentiful and always happy to give helpful advice. I would suggest you check the times of the shows in advance and work you itinerary around them. The shows are excellent performed by the knowledgable keepers and of course the animals. We attended the feeding of the pelicans and eels, the birds of prey and the reptiles and tails shows…all informative and delivered in a very friendly - and often amusing-manner. And they have a two open aired trains that take passenger around the complex. Again informative and helpful for tired tourists. This place caters for all ages and a must for people who are eager to learn about our amazing animal life in an entertaining environment. There are also photo opportunities such as holding a koala supervised by one of the delightful keepers. And finally there are a couple of gift shops to give yo the opportunity of a momento or a gift.
